Grouse!

My son shot a couple of Ruffed Grouse while he was out looking for Chukars. These are the first ones we've ever eaten and they were delicious.
I've had them less than 10 feet from me while bow hunting and never thought about shooting one with my bow but now that we know how good they are they might be in trouble.

I spent a decade hunting ruffed grouse in the Appalachians, New England, and the Great Lakes states behind my setter that passed on in 2013. Absolute blast!

I saw plenty of Ruffed Grouse in the Bighorns in 2014 and again in the Sierra Madres in 2017 in WY while hunting big game. A 20 ga shooting medium loads of #6 shot is about perfect medecine for them.
