Grey?s River - weather and bugs

I am going to be looking for a moose in the Grey?s River area in late September/early October. I realize it can snow anytime but what is the typical weather during this time period and are the bugs usually gone by then? I hate bugs.

I'd think that most of the bugs are gone by early October. When I was out that way about 5 years ago, no issues for us in late Sept.

The temperature can be anywhere from the teens to the 80's. I've been in there in most weather conditions. That time frame you can plan on it being chilly most of the day, as I've mostly worn a base layer and light to medium jacket if moving, but if doing a lot of glassing, a heavier jacket may be needed. Bugs don't seem to be an issue except if it warms some during the day.

I've hunted that area in late September at around 7000ft ,and had great weather. No bugs either. But I know that can change fast. I think a lot will depend on your elevation.
