I have a new co-worker who has never hunted a day in his life. He showed a lot of interest in my discussions over the last two months and long story short, he decided to give spring snow goose a try. I took him out today for his first experience. His first shot dropped a nice blue... he was very excited and now making plans for more trips out.

Great job on getting someone out to hunt! I grew up near Kearney and we used to shoot them when they came through down by Funk. Sure is a blast seeing and hearing all the birds. We tried everything but using snow goose decoys.
Congrats to your buddy! I always the thought the Blue phase ones looked cool.

Hilltop, great job getting someone else into the outdoors! Very nice blue goose! Did you use the cow decoy or layout blinds?

Kudos to you for getting your co-worker into the field for his first hunt, glad to see it was a successful one too! Nice work.

We had strong north winds so we just snuck in to within 200 yards of the south side of the flock. As new birds came in to land they would swing way south to land into the wind. Once a decent group came over at 40 yards, we took them. This was a lunch break hunt so we were really limited on time.

He is our take from the 30 minute hunt;

Will try to leave a couple out there for you! We had another small front come through last night. These north winds are really holding them here- hope the trend continues.
