Should get a HAM javelina tag. I'll wait on portal results :)
That's the official way. I remember when I drew out for my second coues deer hunt for the second year in a row for a December hunt. My CC showed the charge and I couldn't believe it, I went in and made sure that I had applied for the correct unit which I did. Then the wait began, it finally showed up in my portal account and then the fun began.

What unit are you going to be in? I drew for 37b that we have been hunting for over 30 years.

I Kind of miss the days of waiting for the results to come in the mail. The last few years I haven't been using any of the early check loop holes for any of the draws and I kind of like it more :)! I usually hunt 23,22,32 or 33, but I have fun skipping around and hunting new units! It kind of adds to the adventure, even though it makes it a little tougher at times! Or at least that's my excuse :)

I have alerts set up on all of my CC's for any charge where the card isn't present. It's a pain in the rear at times but I know what is going on with it.

We started out hunting 37a west of Catalina and had no idea of what we were doing. Then we screwed up on the draw and went into 33 and hunted around the Bio Spear and the San Pedro river. We finally settled on 37b since a friend who we met down there knew the unit north of Oracle quite well. For years we just stayed in the Oracle Chalet or the A frames, then we started to stay with a friend in Catalina. It increased our drive a bit but it also saved us a lot of money. The last few years we have been staying at a motel in San Manuel.

There was a point where both me and another friend were around 25 for 25 before I started becoming selective and just enjoyed the hikes and finding new things. I even walked into a rattlesnake den one year while tracking a pig. Now the hike into that den site is a annual event. We have taken quite a few people into it with the stipulation that they just look at them, it's just a neat thing to see.
