Do any of you use some type of sling to carry your bows while out in the field? I see most guys just carry it by the string but I've also seen some sling type carriers too.

I also have the primos sling and carry it sometimes. It does get in the way and if you have to take it off in a hurry can be a pain. Had one instance where we jumped a bull out of his bed and he stopped within a shootable range and I was in the sling and couldn't remove it. That kinda sucked

I haven't ran into that situation but can understand the issue. Typically all my hunting has been spot and stalk so jump shooting hasn't happened.......yet!

primos sling for me as well. I'm always so paranoid when I carry by string that something's going to happed to rest and sites. and when going through that thick shit that string cover is very welcomed. I very rarely actually use the sling to carry bow though, it goes from hand to hand. I spend a lot of time down at the outdoor range the few months leading up to the season getting my arms use to carrying that extra weight.

I carry it by the grip with the string pointing towards the ground. I had the primos sling but with a pack on didn't like the way it rode on my shoulder and the sight kept hitting me in the leg and just bugged me too much. If I'm somewhere I know I won't see anything I'll strap it to my pack

I have a sling not the primos version but not sure what name brand. It is very simple with straps around the limbs and clips that snap in with sling. I use it and tdcour method of having handle in my hand. It doesn't get in the way that bad. Never had it on sling when hunting per say more or less just when hiking in for camp set up. Not really hunting at that point and actually sometimes it's the day before the opener.

Oh nice. My brother lives in Brunswick which is down that way. That is gnat/mosquito/No-See-Um country down there. He should have taken his gun and done some hunting for em. There like grizzlies and attack without warning. There just pissed off all the time. I'm sure he will tell you about it. Lol. In all seriousness though it is a pretty town. You should have came down, and you could have hung with me. I need another water boy/team manager. Haha..
We could fish to. Go hit the Hooch.

I use the primos bow sling. I only have it on when I'm climbing trails/ bush whacking, etc. When I'm putting on a stalk its in my hand. I rarely actually sling the bow holder on my shoulder, I strap it to my pack.

(Another) I also have a Sling and its nice because it gives me another option on how I carry my Bow ... Also comes in handy when triing to get your Big Game out of the woods.......

I carry my bow by the handle except when on a long trek in - in that case, it is strapped to my pack. When it is strapped to my pack, I typically use a Primos sling that has the strap curt off in order to protect my strings from rubbing against anything.

Personally, carrying my bow in my hands is a real pain in the ass, no real comfortable way to carry it. Once i'm close the bow comes off my pack. Hunting the desert like we do you normally don't have to have your rig ready at all times so keep it as comfortable as possible, also keeps both hands free for glassing or if you use walking sticks.

I too used the primos ,but like tdcour I couldn't get it to sling right with a pack on ,sights and stabilizer were always hitting on something making the bow hang almost upside down most of the time or the sling would fall off my shoulders I even got a heavy leather needle and sewed a big button on the shoulder strap of my pack, that fixed the slipping part but it just seemed to exaggerate tipping the bow up side down, so now I just strap it to my pack which keeps both hands free out of the way in thick brush , and finally figured out that if I was just hiking from point a to point b and jumped something I was already busted and had little chance to get a shot off anyway, so I've come to terms with it being strapped to my backpack!

I was watching a YouTube for the Trophy Taker Quiverizer today and it looked like the quiver/stabilizer might make it easier to pack bow up over the shoulder. Too expensive for me to try though.

I just carry mine by string or handle right now.
