First I want to thank the guys who have me some great info, you know who you are, thank you.
Wasn't any easy hunt and being my first elk hunt period there was a learning curve but figured it out pretty quick. Saw elk from day one and saw a lot of elk. Had several opportunities and after being stuck in the wall tent Tuesday and Wednesday from severe rain/lightning I was on a mission to fill my freezer. Saw elk right at sun up Thursday morning and caught the herd moving from one drainage to the other and I was on the perfect ridge to ambush them. Hi tailed down to get ahead of them and get the wind right, set up on the edge of the quakies were I thought they'd pop out to cross the ridge above me. First few cows came out at 70yds and I wasn't feeling good about that distance due to a miss Monday at that same range. I kept ranging as several Elk fed out and crossed over. I was literally covered in Elk, they were starting to feed in behind me just about to catch my wind when one in front fed out at 42yds. Set the 40yd pin and buried the arrow, ran 30yds and laid down. The pack out was grueling and up the whole way, 7 hrs and she was on ice. Tenderloin with garlic, onion and potatoes was dinner that night. Got her completely processed today and heading out tomorrow for my archery deer tag. Thanks again you guys for all the great info, this is a great forum.
I will post pics when I'm finally able to sit down a while and relax, going non-stop.

Nice job Jason !!! I was coming out of a fire the other morning and saw a nice black bear in the 275-300 range ( I'm not very good at judging bears) in ca. Thought of you haha. Best of luck the rest of the season

Deer hunt is still going, weather and quad issues kept me hosed for several days but ended up getting 3 stalks in. 30yds from 2 3x but blew it trying to sing all my buddy.
