I'm not saying 0.001% chance of drawing... at least there's a chance with that, but actual 0% chance!

That's strange, I have been recommending Wyoming and Montana.

When I started looking at hunting out West I wanted to hunt the blue chip areas. I spent about 5 years dreaming and applying to areas I had no to lottery chance of drawing. I then started researching the draw odds. I was shocked how foolish I had applied for several years. I wanted to hunt. I made my first hunt in 2017, returned to doe hunt 2018 with son, and will hunt again in 2020. I would prefer to hunt even if an average area or below than maybe hunt once in a lifetime.

Maybe we should all get our stories straight and start recommending Canada.

I spend a lot time trying to figure out odds until I find I get a 0.00037% better odds by applying for A instead of B. It's a fun game.

For many it is about just getting out there. With the opportunity that is available, it is possible to do just that just about every year for a variety of species. It is also possible to go just about every year and build points in some trophy units and then hunt those when it's time. Green Chip units as we have labeled them in the MRS often don't take max points and can be one heck of a hunt.

Too late to apply for those states . OTC Colorado is the way to go. The residents on this board told me how great the elk hunting on Colorado is.

Aren't you the one who recommended Steves outdoor adventures?? LOL.

I even hunted a yellow chip a couple years ago and had a great time.

You will find Yellow Chip units in my antelope application every single year! Why, because I want to have the option of going and I really have a great time doing it!

Imagine the draw odds of the ?not so great units? if the people that are being made out to ?not knowing what they are doing? switched to the ?lesser? units? I am personally thankful that there are lots of people putting in for the Unit 9?s of AZ it makes more room for me to sneak into a lesser known unit.
