    Wyoming NR Elk

Is this right? They're proposing the application deadline be January 31, but we have to wait until June for the results?

WYOGA wanted to lock up their clients money prior to the other Elk draws.

The good news is this should reverse some point creep for non-resident general elk and possibly change some moose applicants. I'm guessing that some people who apply in multiple states will have to re-think strategy as some won't want to take a chance at drawing elk in two different states. Not having elk results available before moose applications are due may also influence a few of those applicants as well.

I fail to see how this is somehow a result of WYOGA lobbying. They're getting their money regardless of when the deadline is. This will BENEFIT non-residents who prioritize WY as the longer wait time will likely discourage applicants who put in "just because" WY draw is earlier than the others.

This is definitely not a good sound decision for NR. Don't understand the logic behind the change. Doesn't effect residents we have to wait until June anyways.

Az. has been doing it for years. They bank your $,
draw intrest off of it for a few months then have the draw.

That's not what WY does, though. The department gains nothing financially from this.

NR's will now have access to tags they would not have had otherwise and NR's who prioritize WY will likely see their odds go up a little as those who apply in WY simply because it's the first draw will forego applying.

I agree that the January deadline doesn't make sense, but the change as a whole is still a net benefit for most NR applicants.
