Clearly it wasn't a hunter who put a federal holiday squarely in between the application deadline and the drawing results being released. I was getting excited to think the results may come out today, and then my bubble was burst. At least one more day to wait.

This thread (and the Oregon forum) have been dead for three months. Time to get something going! My son and I are leaving today to chase bears in Minam-Imnaha. My dad and uncle got there yesterday, and they report that the snow is melting. Time to find a bear.

This will permanently dispel any rumor that I might be a trophy hunter, but my son got his first bear this week. We spotted it from about 200 yards, but when it disappeared behind the hill, we sneaked in, and he shot it from 40 yards. Not sure which was better, the way he followed instructions to stalk and then put the bullet squarely through the heart, or the fact that Grandpa and great uncle watched it from across the canyon.
