    'Alaska,

I know we got a couple things going on in this thread: was the 100V a recommendation for my short barreled .280 Rem?

While sitting here waiting for the Steelers game to start, I was noodling on this powder burn rate stuff a little more, ranking powder speeds from the list and the ones I've already tried (RE-19, AA4350) in working up that load I posted extensively about a few threads back; where it seemed I hit nearly a brick wall velocity plateau; and then a consistent velecity reduction.

I re-visited Alliant's online reloading tables and noticed that the data was different for their 145 gr .280 Rem recipes from what I downloaded from the Speer website; and what I remember on Alliant's website this summer. You may recall I was trying to use the Speer recipe for RE-19; and while I reached 2,800 fps, accuracy was poor.

Alliant doesn't include RE-19 nor AA4350 in their .280 Rem recipes for the Speer 145 BTSP. For the 145 SP, only RE-19 and RE-22 are listed. It seems the Speer data is a combined list of recipes for both the BTSP & SP; whereas the Alliant data seems to separate them; and may be changed from what was previously listed. The only powders in recipes listed now by Alliant for the 145 BTSP are RE-16, RE-17, 4000-MR. RE-16, 17 are both faster than the RE-19 I tried; no idea on the 4000-MR; but reading it's description it sounds slower. Based on the chart, my AA4350 results, and suggestions, right now I am leaning towards the 100V and either RE-16 or IMR4350 for the next round of this.
