Took one on the chin last saturday, our opener.... Had about 500 ducks using this little 40 acre flooded millet. Showed up Saturday morning, kicked no ducks off, ended up shooting one, saw very few. Not really sure what happened, but it hurt my feelings.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

I hate it when my feelings get hurt!

That has happened to me dozens of times. I always wondered what happened. It happens a lot hunting rivers for some reason.

Just chatted with a buddy driving across North Dakota who said he's never seen such an impressive migration... it has begun!

It has started. We had the mallards and gadwalls start to show up the last week.

Sure wish I lived in that path. I used to hunt the Eastern End of Lake Ontario and think it was impressive. Nothing compares to out there though.

So, I'm new to the forum. Anybody having any luck? Its been a great year so far for me. No huge numbers, but consistently getting a few each outing. I did well on teal early in the first season and now picking up mallards. Geese are starting to show up in numbers too, but no luck on them yet. I have a new lab this year and trying to kill as many birds over him as possible. Never enough...
