Best advice I can give you is to find out who the biologist is for sheep in that area, tell them you drew a tag and they will probably give you all the help you need. You might also contact the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep Society in Colorado.

There's lot of public land in those SW units and the sheep tend to be dispersed so you'll need to do as much scouting as you can. That unit has put out rams over 37" and about 20% have been over 35" so you might want to take your time.

If CPW will let you know some past tag holders they'll probably be helpful as well.

I have compiled all of the harvest location data (not on a map yet) and gotten the phone # of one area biologist. Evidently this sheep unit is covered by the Durango and Montrose office so I will get in touch with that biologist too. I know a few past board members from RMBS and will see what they know as well. After my sons baseball season ends, there will be as many scouting trips as possible. Stay tuned.

Where do you live in NC? Have a couple friends from Raleigh area that come out every year to hunt archery elk with us.
