    Oregon 2017

Some field photos from last season. This buck was deliberately taken due to his body mass and overall health: it's all about the venison. Look at the marbling on that hind-quarter! My dad bought the Gerber folder in 1977, a great knife that is used annually for one task and one task only: take apart the venison. No way on earth I'd own a current Gerber product. Swarovski 10x42 ELs that have doubled in value since I bought them in 2004. Zamberlan Tofane boots. As always, a solo hunt on foot, no barbed wire, signs, cell service or alfalfa circles within miles. Cool memories were finding a knapped head on the brutal climb up the back of the cliff to get above the bucks. I was sweating like mad and the wind was howling and there is this arrowhead from who knows when. The best part was that I left the head where it lay. Simple 2 mile pack out in one trip, the buck broke down in and on my perfectly fine and old Dwight Schuh pack-frame. The last mile done under the moonlight with snow spitting and that euphoric feeling when you see the flashlight reflect off the license plate of your 200,000 mile 3.4L Tacoma that patiently waits for you. Hope you like the field photos everybody!

Nice job, I’ve never figured out deer hunting the Oregon desert.

    Great photos.
I go to the Mountains to loose my mind and find my soul.
