    WY Elk Draw Results

I know we're still 2 weeks+ from posting, but I'm more anxious than normal this year. I've got an app in for a Type 1 and a Type 6, and plans for the rest of my fall hinge on the results. If I draw the Type 1, I probably won't apply for any other elk or deer tags (maybe a pronghorn) in case I need to make a return trip to try to fill that Type 1. If I get the Type 6 only, I'll probably enter the Colorado draw for a 3rd season deer tag for a 2nd trip west for 2018.

I do have AK results to look forward to between now and then, but I'm in for a 2019 bear hunt.. Hard to get too excited yet on that one since it's so far off.

Anyway, good luck to all who applied. Back to impatiently waiting now..

Like you, I really can't wait for the results, and the rest of my fall plans will hinge on these results. Really wanting to draw this tag and use the points, as this is probably the best year in the next several, for me to be able to spend 2 weeks up there.
My mind is a raging torrent, flooded with rivulets of thought cascading into a waterfall of creative alternatives.

I'm also in for a type 1 and a type 6. My type 1 should be a "guaranteed" draw but my type 6 is about 50/50. Planning 2 or maybe 3 trips- Early season cow hunt, archery any elk hunt, October rifle hunt if needed. I'll put in for moose but won't draw unless i draw the 1-600 tag.

This is the time of yr grown men regress back to their childhood, to when they were 7 yrs old, about 2 weeks before Christmas Day...

Its that same feeling for me right now as back in December of 1979.

Type 6 tag-probably long odds-1st choice a little closer drive, 2nd choice a little farther. Like everyone else, fall plans and budgets based on the outcome. We'll know soon fellas. Time moves fast. The rodent already even came up his burrow to mess with us, we're nearly a week into Feb and Philly are the new champs. And on it goes.

    Regards,

Any chance a backdoor might be left open earlier?

At least they are posting results earlier this year than they have in some years past. February 22nd isn't too far away. That still gives guys a week to ponder moose application in Wyoming.

Elk hunting wyoming is really becoming a seemingly "rigged" deal. I went on the non-res special draw for a decent tag and the GEN as a backup... 2 years ago I cashed 8 points and finally got a great tag... but the weather for 10 days was 90 degrees and sunny. Saw a bunch of big bulls but they weren't really rutting in the 3rd week of september because of the heat and we couldn't get within bow range. now I can wait forever again to get a decent tag or pay the big bucks for years and stock up points while hunting GEN every year or two... RIGGED!

I'll take the Wyoming "rigged" system... I will hunt General tags the rest of my life... It really boils down to do you want 5 more elk hunts in your life or 20? I am opting for 20 and guessing I'll kill a lot more elk and even a couple trophies.
