    Everybody loves their stimulants...

    Not sure if it has been said as I did not read all 5 pages but caffeine does help the body in endurance activities by helping your body burn stored fat rather than glycogen. Or basically caffeine helps your body burn more stored fat (instead of glycogen stores) in turn your body has the glycogen for later in the endurance period. For this reason caffiene was a banned substance by the IOC until the early 2000's. Soft drinks have long been a favorite of the leadville trail 100 runners I know due to large ammounts of carbs and caffeine. Best results are 2-6+ hours after taking it. Results varry widly from person to person largly due to the tolerance level of the drinker. Or if you can abstain 1-4 days before say a big hunt/hike then take it when you need it on a hunt for endurance it helps me a ton. I only consume mild levels of caffeine in my day and I will say I see a big difference in how caffeine helps my body run at elevation.

    So I drink a single 8 - 12 oz cup early in my day then switch to h2o.

    At home it's either a French press or an Aero press with some dark roast.

    While in the backcountry I used to use the Starbuck's Vias. I've since discovered Darktimber coffee and have used the Ascent single packs. While there's a small amount of waste compared to Starbucks, I know I'm supporting a hunting friendly company. Darktimber also donates a portion of thier sales to Backcountry Hunters and Anglers or TRCP.

    Don't drink coffee. Quit drinking caffeine high school. Just water, cashew milk, or the occasional adult beverage. (no gluten either...)
