Its a good fat/lazy guy hunt for an average 6 point...if I were a NR I wouldn't burn more than 4-5 points on it.

Nice elk! It'd look bigger without the fat guy behind it! j/k
I get what Buzz is saying, but there are still a few bruisers in there and you found one.

Unit 100 is a fun hunt for bulls in that class...you were realistic in your expectations, and it sounds like you're happy with that bull.

    Congrats.

That is very similar to the bulls I have seen come out of that area- 280-320". Very pretty bulls but for sure not the biggest in the state. I have honestly never understood the crazy draw odds since there are so many areas a guy can have an easy fun hunt for a much bigger bull.

I would assume the ease of terrain and high success rates. Not many places that have 90% success rates. And I think the vast majority of hunters would be perfectly happy with a 300" 6 point. Myself included.

You know I'm not a fat or lazy guy and 100 is one of the areas I would like to hunt just once in my life.
Seeing those elk out in the sage as tall as trees is really neat and not so easy to find if you get away from Steamboat Mtn. Success is great. Put in the time to look around the area and you'll find a big bull.

100 is huge, in 2015 the challenge was not finding big bulls. The challenge was finding big bulls that weren't broken.

In the areas we were finding bulls we didn't see another hunter. In units like that you will find more elk by looking for giant plumes of dust rather than elk themselves.
