    Weiser River ELk

This is the year, as well as my first elk hunt. Im hunting the Weiser River unit. I have permission to hunt a few different properties in the Weiser River, but im more of a public land kinda guy. I like to enjoy it while we have it. I'll be hunting around the Council area more or less plan on spending most of my time on Cuddy and Council Mtn. Im not looking for any spots I don't need your spots i'll find my own. I was just wondering how the elk Population is doing around these area's. How's the quality of bull's? I am not trophy hunting I am shooting the first legal bull I see. Also I do live in CA and I don't want to hear the BS that comes with it. The Mules, goats, and elk in my back yard would blow the doors off a lot of places in Idaho. As I have the credentials to prove it.

tough winter and some winter kills but there be elk.

sounds like you have some sorta chip on your shoulder regarding being from californy. don't know why nor do I need to but when asking for info it would probably help you to lose it.

Yea for sure! Sounds like you've had bad experiences on other forums. This forum isn't like that. I'm sure you'll get more and better responses if you talk nice. Lot of good folks on here from CA and that last statement sure sounds pissy. Oh well congrats on your your "door blowing off Mules, goats and elk". Although our mules and goats down south may give you CA boys a run for your money, however our elk can not compete.

It doesn't matter how great the critters are in your state if you can't draw a tag.

Lots or private....plenty of places to drive right up to a bull and load it in the back of the truck.

You better lose that pissy attitude before you show up to hunt. Native Idahoans will treat you with respect until they get a dose of that arrogance. You would be well adivsed to leave it in Caly. Your time here will go smoother if you practice the friendly and humble routine.

I grew up in Idaho, fishing the Snake. My family and friends still live there. Sorry bout the chip, I just know how people get treated when stereotyped. I live in the Northeast Corner of Cali and love it. The only problem is that it is part of California. Sorry I came off that way it. Anywho thanks the info, im really looking forward to getting up that way and doing a little scouting. I have some friends that live in Weiser and for me its only like a 6 hour drive. I cant wait till hunting season. I've already started scouting down my way.

It's all good. Those are some great animals anywhere. I myself do not put northern CA into same category as the rest of the state. I thought when I was out there that it's as FINE a country as anywhere in the world.
Good luck with your research. The guys on this site are very very helpful and respectful. Stick around and you'll see what I'm talking about. Even 'Ol Sneakypete is a pretty good dude, and he's from Northern Ca. So we don't hold it against ya. If your a hunter and a good 'ol boy your welcome around this campfire anytime no matter where your from.
