I picked up a leftover tag, and immediately had a decent bear hitting a bait on my property. Then the acorns started raining and I haven’t seen him since. I don’t expect much action for another week or two

Whitetail does are the vast majority of what we shoot. Mostly yearlings that haven’t ever been bred, or mature does without fawns. I won’t kill a young buck, and since mature bucks are a rarity around here, does fill the freezer. If numbers ever declined badly, I guess I probably wouldn’t...

I probably see a thousand trumpeters every fall around here. They’re so plentiful at times, it can make hunting other waterfowl difficult. I have to remind my kids to watch their shots so there’s no collateral damage
