WYOMING 90/10 UPDATE | The best blog you'll read all year! - by Guy Eastman

If they do, they're not using their common sense. With the squared bonus point system about to pass, I would keep my points going. The way they'll distribute tags is take the total number of moose permits and then divide them 75-25 preference/random. They do this for the R/NR splits already...

    Buzz!

Not much of a story...just like hunting and public land same as most others out there.

    Elk hunting question

If not this, then spend your scouting days immediately before your hunt. If archery hunting, you may find benefit in summer scouting. Rifle season, I'd rather either just show up and hunt, or scout a few days prior to the opener. Either way, if you aren't seeing elk, keep moving and...

    How many states....

WY: 3 elk tags, 1 or 2 buck deer tags, 1 buck pronghorn, 2 doe pronghorn I'll throw away, 2-4 whitetail doe tags, goat, and bison. Lifed out for sheep and moose. MT: Sheep, goat, moose, elk b, deer b, buy an OTC NR buck deer tag, apply for a special deer permit (burned 14 points last year so...

WYOMING 90/10 UPDATE | The best blog you'll read all year! - by Guy Eastman

The TRW committee bill didn't make it, died on a 10-20-1 vote yesterday. WOGA is losing its grip on WY politics, that was major bill from them coming out of the task force.

WYOMING 90/10 UPDATE | The best blog you'll read all year! - by Guy Eastman

There has been nothing but more and more interest in big-game hunting in Wyoming for the past 20+ years...and that isn't going to change.

How did everyone's hunt go this year is it what you expected and are you going to change your plans for next year?

I "think" I wrapped up the last of the elk season helping a couple NR friends from ND. Honestly, having helped pack, kill, quarter, etc. 11 elk this fall (6 in the past 10 days) I've about had enough. Have one more friend with a January tag, may try to get out sometime and give things a look...

    Hunting Doe

As long as the animals are utilized and killed ethically, absolutely.

    Hunting Doe

I won't ever shoot another mule deer doe or pronghorn doe ever again. I will buy tags to pitch them in the trash to help save them from being killed though. Its pretty appalling to me what I see happen every year in regard to both these species. They aren't doing well across their range, and...

How did everyone's hunt go this year is it what you expected and are you going to change your plans for next year?

The lack of snow has really made access pretty nice but that may change this week. It was good while it lasted, could pretty much get around just about everywhere we hunted. Great way to wrap up the 2022 WY season for my nephews (both shot bulls), myself (3rd WY elk for the year) and a good...

How did everyone's hunt go this year is it what you expected and are you going to change your plans for next year?

Next year will be ho-hum for me unless someone in the family draws some tags somewhere. For sure plans for next year: 1. Annual AK fishing trip. 2. Wyoming 4-5 deer tags, buck pronghorn, couple doe pronghorn to pitch in the trash, 3 elk tags, lion, bear, wolf. 3. Montana buck deer for sure...

Still have quite a bit to do, mostly helping friends but I do have another WY elk tag left. So far have done OK. WY: Montana:

    Your Best White Tail Buck...

Not my best, but most recent. Montana buck I shot yesterday in the NW part of the state on public land. I've been hunting NW Montana for whitetails since 1979 and really enjoy hunting them in the mountains where they never see an ag field their entire lives. Going to help my family the rest...

WY NR's special/regular tag splits, comment now

In fairness...I've done OK with 3 of the 4 tags I've hunted in AZ too (donated one tag to AZ hunt of a lifetime for a youth with a life threatening illness). All on public land, but like everywhere else on planet earth, there aren't 350+ bulls behind every bush...but I did find one behind a...

WY NR's special/regular tag splits, comment now

Just can't leave it alone can you? If you think WY is too high priced and the bulls aren't big enough, just don't hunt here, you wont be missed. WY, definitely not worth it, in particular on public land: Only one I've ever had scored from Wyoming...373 and change gross, public land:

WY NR's special/regular tag splits, comment now

Clocks ticking and this will impact NR hunters if its not scrubbed by the task force... Get your comments in ASAP.

NR Tags Could Get Huge Price Increase

Believe what you want, but when you find one thing I posted that isn't true, be sure to come back and let us know. There have been a few things that weren't horrific. I think 90-10 passing for the big-5 was a pretty good win for Residents. Getting WWNRT fully funded was another win for all...

WY NR's special/regular tag splits, comment now

This post is for the NR hunters mostly, but I'll be opposing moving the tag split between special and random to 50-50, currently there is 60% regular fee, 40% special fee. Time for NR's to comment, single question on the public input link...

NR Tags Could Get Huge Price Increase

I don't agree, I've had 4 rifle bull tags in Arizona since 2010 and I saw lots of dead raghorns and spikes in camps, in the back of trucks, etc. No way the average bulls in Arizona on the hunts I was on averaged 300...not even close. Plenty of good areas in Wyoming where 330+ is just as...

NR Tags Could Get Huge Price Increase

You haven't the first clue. The task force was the brain child of Ogden Driscoll, a republican legislator from devil's tower. His agenda was to split mule deer and whitetail into 2 tags so his paying customers and outfitter buddy could be assured clients each year. I know several good people...
