    Archery Shiras Moose?

I was very lucky. I had a four year stretch that started with a sheep tag, followed by a moose tag in each of the next three years. My luck changed after that, and I hit a tag drought. 😀

Lucked out and drew an Expo Tag

Congrats on the tag! I went along with my brother on his early rifle hunt there 5 years ago. I think it will be a good hunt.

    lion roast

The one I ate was tasty, but tough. I agree that it was pork-like.

    Archery Shiras Moose?

Yes, all draw — Idaho in 1991, Montana in 1999, leftover (exception to once in a lifetime) Idaho in 2008, and Wyoming in 2018. I used to live in Idaho so I was not subject to the NR cap. I have also drawn tags in New Hampshire and Maine, but those are different moose.

    Archery Shiras Moose?

I have shot four Shiras bulls. Although the first was with a recurve, the rest were with rifles as my schedule on those hunts was limited. All were within 50 yards. If you have time to put in, I think moose are fairly good animals to go after with a bow.

What an animal! I hope it died of old age/natural causes.

    2020 Whitetail Success Thread

Thanks. I shot an “antlerless” deer a few years ago at the end of December that turned out to be a small buck that had dropped its antlers (still legal). Since this buck was taken a couple weeks later in the season than that, I was pretty careful with the antlers while getting him back to my...

    Wyoming Moose

Point creep is really frustrating. I finally drew a nearby unit as a non-resident with 17 points a couple of years ago. As a man of means by no means, I am fine with not donating roughly $200 per year (NR preference point fee plus processing fee).

Your family did very well this year. Congratulations!

    Northwest legal muzzleloader

I think the Federal Firestick would be a no-no in Idaho because, as tim pointed out, 209 primers are not legal there for a muzzleloader only season. When I last hunted with a muzzleloader in Idaho, I used loose Pyrodex and flangeless musket caps (photo 1). The musket caps seemed to have more...

    Wyoming Moose hunt, Archery

I drew what I think was a mid-tier unit in 2018 with 17 points. This year, the same unit took 19 points in the preference point draw. It is pretty frustrating, and I am very glad I drew the year the preference point fee went up.

Bulls Taken in 2020 with what bullet and caliber combos?

That might be a good deer bullet but maybe you should be using 300 gr Accubonds on elk. At least that is what I read on the internet 😉
