Public Land Bighorn Ram with a Bow

That was quite the accomplishment! I am pretty sure I would not have had the perseverance to have stuck with the bow on a Breaks sheep hunt. Thanks for posting the video.

What Pistols Do You All Carry?

I have a couple of Milt Sparks IWB holsters for 1911s that are really nice but they are kind of pricey and there is a significant wait (or was when I got mine). The pistol I use most often for concealed carry is a Kahr PM9. It is about the size of the Shield. I carry it in a horse hide...

    pa elk hunting

I have not been lucky enough to draw a tag but I have gone there to view elk. There is a lot of public land in many of the elk zones. There are very few tags so I doubt that you would be overrun with other elk hunters. Also, I think the firearms deer season is after the elk season, so you...

Decided on Caliber - Now need to decide on Rifle

If you want one rifle for you and your wife to both use, there is a good chance that the length of pull will not fit one of you. If the compact/youth type stocks fit your wife best, then a Sims slip on pad might lengthen it enough to fit you fine. BTW — Bonecollector almost makes me ashamed to...

    Tag Soup 2019

I made two trips to Idaho this fall. I had a mountain lion tag, a wolf tag, and a predator call in my pocket on both trips. No predators were harmed so both tags remain in pristine condition.

    Animals in Packs!

When I upgraded from an Army plywood packboard to a Camp Trails freighter frame, I thought I had reached the pinnacle of meat packing. It took me over 20 years to move on from the freighter frame.

    Animals in Packs!

This was my college roommate’s first (and only) elk. It was only about 300 yards below the road. He didn’t have much packing experience at the time, and the pack was as heavy or heavier than he was. When he stopped to rest the weight on a stump, my brother and I warned him not to lean back...

I am not sure how much he weighed. He was bigger than any whitetail buck I have shot and at least as big as the only mule deer I have taken. The head/cape “felt” like it weighed at least 100 pounds as I crawled up the hill with it 😀. Of course, it didn’t weigh that much.
