    Michigan Bear hunting adventure

If there’s any restaurants around you that do a chicken wing night or fried chicken special, try to collect the scraps. I had a brand new bait once with fried chicken scraps and a bear hit it the first night, ate the chicken, and never came back. I didn’t have any more chicken, but I believe...

    Michigan Bear hunting adventure

I don’t claim to be a skilled bear baiter, but the last time I did, the biggest bear I had on camera went gaga for the black oil sunflower seeds. I had a couple options on my bait pile, but he cleaned up the sunflower seeds every time

    Fishing Ontario

I’ve been tempted to do the same thing but Canada knows how to punish violators. If I absolutely need more bait, I can be to the nearest town and back in about 2 hours

    Bear Versus Electric Deer

Funny, but what is the practical purpose of this. Just to show how resourceful bears can be

    Fishing Ontario

Just got back from the cabin and fishing was probably the best we’ve ever had. More 20-24” walleye than we normally see there, plus some big bass and respectable pike

Would a new bow be worth it?

You can get a very nice, used bow on eBay for 500. I’ve bought a couple fully loaded bows ( mathews and hoyt) that were only a few years old. Just make sure the seller has a very good rating

Just so you know, it’s also illegal for Americans to dipnet or use any other method to capture bait in Ontario. Only Canadians have that privilege

I know there’s also plenty of big game hunting opportunities in Argentina, but I don’t know if any are close to Jurassic lake. I think hunting a stag and catching a 20# rainbow would be a pretty good day

    2022 Fishing thread

I’ve never been really enthusiastic about trout fishing, but have you ever looked into Jurassic lake in Argentina? 20# rainbows aren’t all that uncommon. Would possibly make a fun cast and blast if any hunting is available near there

    What's everyone up to?

Went out this morning with my oldest son, trying to fill his turkey tag. With season almost over, and bird numbers way down, we beat the odds on public ground. He’s kept the streak alive 11 years in a row. With the help of a full-fan decoy, we pulled him about 100 yards across a small field.

    What's everyone up to?

Turkey hunting, youngest son and I got our birds. I’m heading to Nebraska on Sunday, hoping to get my first merriams. Should be able to load up on morels if the turkey hunting stinks. Ice just went off the lakes here, so haven’t been on the water much.

    Any gardeners on here?

I created a 1200 square foot garden when we moved to our property 6 years ago and quickly found that I am too busy/lazy to take care of it properly. But we love fresh vegetables, especially tomatoes, so I’m going to build some raised beds. I have quite a bit of hay to layer on the bottom, then...

    Does it makes sense anymore?

Id be pretty content doing something similar, perhaps backcountry fishing/shed hunting trip. Doesn’t always have to be about killing something

    Does it makes sense anymore?

I have found it challenging to hunt for mule deer here in Minnesota.

How much wildgame do you actually eat?

My family of 5 will eat 6-7 deer each year, plus half a dozen wild turkeys. Add in an average of at least 10 honkers and 20 ducks. Plus we eat fish probably 50-75 meals. I would eat fish way more frequently, but my wife doesn’t like it quite as much as I do.

    Fuel prices affect

It’s a strong possibility I might go elk hunting in eastern Oregon near Pendleton. My friend’s in-laws have a couple thousand acres with a resident elk herd. It sounds like a cow hunt, but I’d be a lot more excited if bulls were on a menu. He’s new to hunting, so he doesn’t really understand...
