Another article on Wyoming's tough winter

One of the things "we" used to do was open up trails. The deer would be in yards and a snow machine would open up a trail that would allow some additional movement to new feed without as much energy spent. That was the primary thing I thought of but the snow machines are noisy, maybe when...

Another article on Wyoming's tough winter

Saw the article. I was talking with a biologist the other day - we were talking about "objectives" and 10-year population trends. That's what the game management professionals run their numbers using. Some years go up some down, but they look at the 10-yr trend lines. He was talking about...

3 Year Old Huge 276 Inch Dead Head

Between the 2, I'd take the one on the tailgate here - just nice and clean. My uncle has one like that from ME. Also - I couldn't believe there is a deadhead registry. LoL!

    Colorado Firearm Laws 2023

Totally get it and feel the same way. Not sure if there is a correct answer for the whole issue. This is where the opposition has us beat. They ALL want the SAME thing and don't have factions that lean one way or another. We struggle against each other (R/NR, gun laws, etc.) and against...

    Colorado Firearm Laws 2023

Not shooting at you @mallardsx2 - just commenting. This is the kind of disunity that's gonna sink the gun owners and hunters. "I'm not in a hurry to try and save XYZ because of what they did to me." Then XYZ falls and the opposition is on your doorstep, and you got not help. Not a pretty...

    AK Fishing

A Really Huge State! Starting to lean towards using a place that will help arrange a week's worth of itinerary - everything with these kind of places is based off a Saturday - Saturday kind of trip. Have seen a handful of places like this. Liking the idea of a "1-stop shop" for lodging, a...

    AK Fishing

You pinned it pretty much. Thanks. I see it like when someone comes down here for vacation - they can just do Disney or they can do manatees, rockets, race tracks, beaches, light houses, islands, fishing, sunsets, boat tours, airboats, gators, freshwater springs, historic forts, and more...

    AK Fishing

Wife is now talking about an AK trip... So, it is back on the burner. I was looking at renting a 40 ft yatch and it came down to not wanting to limit myself. It would have been cheaper and a neat trip, but we'da been stuck in one place in SE AK and there wasn't any snow on the mtns in the...

    What’s your plans?

We spent a week at Grand Lake Stream back in the 80s - salmon and smallmouth bass. Then there was a bog not too far down the road that had a ton of big pickerel in it. Oh - we fished the base of the dam one night and couldn't keep a fly in the water without a salmon latching on. Got bigger...

    Expo 2023

Thanks, Jim. Guess I fell prey to the "there are no big ones left" gibberish that's so prevalent these days. Those big wide frames are incredible. Actually, I remember seeing a photo in 2019 from a biologist in CO showing me a huge buck taken off private land in the area I hunted. Was...

    Bait for DP traps

I've seen that some folks like to use anise/licorice. My dad had an armadillo digging a hole and set a 1-sided havahart trap facing the hole. got nothing, I suggested he flip it around. He's all excited this morning that he got an opossum. Not exactly sure what he's gonna do with it, but his...

    Bait for DP traps

Seems like there needs to be an odor to draw them. marshmallows is easiest, catfood is cheapest but neither can draw from a distance. Hence the grape jelky, sardine oil, etc. wife wants chickens. I’ll be getting into the game once that happens. Lots of coons and possums around here.

    Will Colorado ever do this?

When I hunted CO for muley it was on a multiple unit permit and ended up shooting buck in unit that was diff from the one we originally planned on hunting.

    Finally got out!

I saw the GW teal. Just funny how the hen pintail blended in a bit, could be that was just focused on the full plume drakes. Duck season has ended down here - they'll have a Veteran's hunt day and a kids hunt day the next 2 Saturdays and then the fat lady will be out of breath.

    Wolf Reintroduction Sign Walden

That's absolutely insane - releasing wolves in the winter. How can they do that and say it isn't to reduce the animal herds?

    Wills

In FL, I think it costs about 3% of your estate and a year or more to do probate. About $4K to do a trust down here - living will, medical surrogate, and whatever else, all possessions need to be converted into trust from personal ownership... The atty told us that if it isn't in a trust it...
