Here is a goofy looking buck I took on 1-1-16. He's not the biggest but with 2 days left in the season my standards dropped drastically. Even though there was only 2 days left, watching the deer expire was bittersweet. I don't like ending my season even if the season is almost over.
Here are a few deer that either escaped or weren't quite what I was looking for while bow hunting. I'm going to try to make it out one more time over new years weekend.
Here is a ND muley my father's buddy took. It isn't huge but it had a beautiful frame. He went 29 1/4 inch outside spread and was pretty tall as well. I bow hunted this buck the last two years and was close enough to shoot twice but I just couldn't get the shots off because of the does. I...
I was hunting mule deer in North Dakota and hadn't seen much of anything that perked my interest. I decided that one evening I would go to a new area I've never been before and help my father's friends look for an elk since one of them was lucky enough to draw and ND bull elk tag. In two...
Does anyone have any personal experience with the ghostblind or know of anyone that has bought and used one? Does it work? What are its limitations?
I first thought the idea was outrageously overprice and gimmicky. However, last year the muleys I was bow hunting were using the open prairie...
This is a product of peer pressure from my brother. Thankfully I had enough sense to not listen to his last words of, "You had better hit that going fast, I wouldn't go slow through that." I backed out without an issue but realized how stupid it was after the fact.
My father's deer green scored by me at 178 and some change. It was a ND rifle tag which means it was pretty late in the season. It was -19 ambient temp the previous day my father got this buck. The day he shot it was terribly cold as well with high winds and lots of blowing snow.
We...
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with the EDG VR scopes? I bought a refurbished Nikon EDG VR scope and I believe they sent me a view through case for the non VR scope. I have been emailing Nikon customer service and I am becoming frustrated. They keep telling me that the 85 EDG...
I was standing next to my 68 year old father watching through my binos when he put this guy on the ground. It green scored at just over 178 gross. Of course we saw another deer he would have rather shot after he already filled his tag, but that is how it goes...
The deer was shot somewhere...
I was at the bow range last night and had a bit of a catastrophic failure. My pro shop says it was probably a user related issue. I'm not ruling that out by any means but thought I would ask if anyone else has ever ran into a similar issue.
The story, as I remember it, goes like this:
I...
I love reading this thread and looking through the photos and I suppose I will finally introduce myself (as I am one that never did like so many others). My name is Ryan. You wouldn't guess it by looking at me, but I am in my thirties now. I work in a warehouse in ND. I am at a very busy...
I mostly hunt in ND. It can get real cold and real windy here. Its not uncommon for -20 ambient temps with -40+ windchills. Typically its my hands and feet that get cold to the point where I can't hardly stand it. So what is the best clothing lineup from head to toes...hats, socks, boots...
Thanks all. It was a the luckiest half hour of hunting I've had. I had a week long trip panned to help my younger brother fill his whitetail rifle tag. On the 5th day of our hunt we had run out of places to look for whitetails with about 45 minutes left in the day so we decided to try to spot...
I managed to tag the buck in the third pic with the bow. He was only 26 1/2 wide. I am still happy as heck with him, but from this pic you can imagine how much bigger I thought he was.
Here is the one I tagged last Thursday with the bow. I was helping my brother try to fill his whitetail rifle tag and ran into this buck. I couldn't help myself and had to go after it with the bow. I was incredibly lucky. This was one of those stalks where absolutely everything was in my...
