I am with everyone else on this one! I have the Oregon 450 with the landowner chip and I really like it.
My uncle dropped off his 450t for me to use with my chip. My GPS doesn't accept a chip so he's saving me some money haha. I'll get one that accepts a chip next year. But I have a question and don't mean to hijack....why is the battery compartment so dang hard to open on this model? I feel like its going to break.

I use a cheaper Garmin Legend HCx because it does everything I need and it also takes the landowner chips. I got it for $153 to my door from Amazon.com a couple years ago to replace the older Legend I have that has a black and white screen and doesn't take chips.

Thanks for the info. Quick question, what does the chip do? Provide the names of all the private landowners in the area?

Property boundaries, names, roads....I'm sure I've also missed some of the other benefits. But definetely get it especially if you will be near private land. No need to wreck a good hunt by getting somewhere you shouldn't be.

Like Topgun I've used a Garmin Legend HCx for years. It works great and with a new landowner chip it does everything I need. I recently bought a Garmin 62 which I'll begin using soon ... I went with this over the Oregon that many have mentioned because it was on sale (cheaper) and uses buttons which I find better in cold weather when wearing gloves than a touch screen.

I know what you mean but I have had no problems with it. I just take my time changing the batteries so I don't break anything!

Good to know. My uncle said to just stick a knife in there and twist. I was like "oh no" haha

Seems like they would have designed that part better.

Just ordered a 62st. I'll let you know what I think of it. Went with the 62 vs the 64 due to price. Very small difference between the 62/64, but large delta in price.

I have a 62 and really like it. Great on Batteries and it has some great functions. Wish the screen was a little larger but it is fine for now.I downloaded a Montana satellite photo of the areas I hunt on Base camps then I can overlay the OnXmaps data on top of the satellite image. Works great and pretty good detail.

I have never had any problem opening the battery cover on my 450t.

I'm going to go a little against the grain on this one, and say that I love the Garmin Rino 650's. We have several people in our party that have them, and they're a huge asset, although they are significantly more than some of the other GPS's mentioned.
