In the same point pool as you were and looking forward to hearing how you do. I reluctantly chose to wait a year although I had a very knowledgeable biologist tell me to apply for the hunt you drew. I already had a conflicting hunt scheduled for this fall and had a couple of other knowledgeable folks tell me to hold out a little longer. Maybe others in the pool cashed in this year also? I am a little concerned about the five year plan, point creep and age creep as I am now in my sixties. I guess it may be time for me to s#!t or get off the pot.

Good luck UH!! I'll be in the same point pool for area 61 next year. Like many folks I was saving up for the NW corner but I talked to a couple of game wardens who said I'd probably never catch up to the point creep and area 61 is a true quality elk area anyway. They strongly recommended area 61 so you should be into some great hunting!! As I mentioned, for this year I drew an area 61, 4th season, leftover cow tag so I can begin scouting the area. Looking forward to hearing how you do.

Good luck to you UH. I have a 2nd season tag and am very excited to get up there and hunt. I wanted a archery or muzzleloader tag but was never gonna catch the creep.

Looks like things are coming together for you. Weather has been pretty hot here for this time of the year (90's)and no rain for a week or so. Just looked at the forecast for Montrose, Grand Junction and here in the Cortez area. A cool down starts today (cloudy this AM, just let the dog out & looks like rain), with thundershowers thru the middle of next week for all the surrounding areas. Looks like you will catch a break there.

Hope this turns into the hunt of a lifetime for you, good luck.
