Its going to and has happened in every state eventually. 1 state raises their price and you think thats to much I wont apply there, then another and another raise their prices and pretty soon if you want to hunt out of state you have to pay the price somewhere.
Increase point revenue, decrease gov tag auction proceeds. Seems like a good plan.
WRONG! Just checked the online regs and it applies to ALL applicants. Guess that means because I hold a current Fishing Lic, I don't have to pay for the points I want. Seems like they are screwing themselves....at least as far as residents go, as most of us fish too.

I am all for Colorado and other states charging for point building. The point creep is out of control and they have to do something. I have a buddy that hasn't hunted Colorado do 15 years, all he does is apply for points and the point creep continues. They have to do something to stop it before it takes 40 years to draw a tag. I pay the fee in Wyoming and do not complain. Due to the popularity of hunting things will continue to get more expensive just like everything else in life.

A bad day in the woods is better than a good day at work.

They need to do something other than raising prices to deal with point creep
I'm not sure charging more will change point creep in the "trophy" units. $50-60/pt isn't that bad in the grand scheme of things. 20yrs even at $100/pt sure beats the asking price of the vouchers to hunt those units for NRs. If a res can hunt it in 8-12 then it's still cheaper for them too.
Although I know it stinks to have to fork over more cash, it still seems insignificant to what other states are charging non residents in points fee's and licenses you'll never use. Out of all the western states I apply for I pay WAY more in all of these states compared to what a non resident has to pay to apply in Colorado.
I think they should start making or adding new units for trophy management and then luck of the draw six point or better units. You may not see 350+ bulls doing it this way, but 300 bulls should be there. Could start to take pressure of the prime units as you could give out 300 tags pretty easily and expect maybe 25-30% success. More Cows would have to be taken to make room for the 2 1/2- 3 1/2 year old bulls to mature before they become legal.
If they'd go to a point banking system they'd see top point holders burning some of their points.
