    Snowpack

Need more Oregon threads.............here's our snow pack.

My mulie pastures will be dry as bone, cheat grass like kindling, and he'll be under a rock flicking his ears in his bed when I put an arrow in the boiler room. :-)

I always envision smoke, helicopters, fire fighters, etc when I see maps like that. I like your optimism!

It is slow here in Oregon. I couldn’t believe all the fires we had last summer with al the snow we had the winter prior. Lots of woods burned up in the Cascades. Should be some new better hunting in those areas.

When I got my Malheur pronghorn, he was in the 2014 Buzzard Complex burn. And when I say he was in a burn, I mean he was walking in ashes, eating little tops of greenery. The land has an incredible capacity to recover from fire.

That said, our statewide snowpack is less than it was in 2014 and wildlife (and ranchers) could be in for a very rough time.

According to our snow pack at site locations here in Western Montana we are at between 130 to 200 percent of normal with the average being something like 156 percent so we are quite a bit over average.

Yup, Montana is well over the norm and we just added another 10 inches to the west of Helena since yesterday.
