That's true, early season the bulls would be trying to gather up cows. I live about a half mile from an elk ranch and start listening to the bulls on the farm. Past couple of years, the bulls are really going at it later in September, but start earlier. When the rut is in full swing, it seems some of the lesser bulls bugle travel a lot trying to gather whatever cows are not herded up with the big ones, in the field. IMO The elk farm will let one huge bull mate with all of the cows and the separate the smaller ones. They now have about 20 albinos in the herd, which are pretty cool. The elk farm said most of their income is from selling antlers.

About 20 cowahectracres on a good day, but then they're worthless the next day and have a hard time walking:-)

From my little experience with 36b, there seem to be quite a high density of wolves but the elk are there. Those are good places to start.
