I'd HIGHLY recommend a GPS for western hunting.
Ya the hunting gps maps are amazing, has allowed me to go places where most folks turn around since the fence is posted PP even though the fence line is public. I have found many places where whoever has the grazing rights try and post private. They may have some acres, or a sections within this area, but I have found in many cases over 80% of the posted area is BLM. I just use a cheap Garmin Venture HC and it is super simple and easy to operate.
Thanks everyone.I can see a stop at Cabelas on the way over to Wyoming.
I shot a 31" 7X6 not too far over Togwotee pass a few years ago. North of Dubois after you go over the pass you will see some high rock cliffs. The tallest one is called Breccia (sp?) Peak. We camped at a little lake and I found him right at the base of the cliffs there. The top of the cliffs and north is the wilderness.
Thanks robsev.I'll have to try and find that on the map.
Just found it. Unfortunely that spot is in region E.But thanks for the tip.Much appreciated.
I'm leaving Sat. morning which is to soon to get it mailed here so hopefully Cabelas will have it.
