I was able to harvest this divine buck on the last weekend of general season! I spend from snowmelt to snowfall in the WA state wilderness areas; for the beauty of God's country, and for the bucks! This deer is unlike any Ive seen. His mass is absolutely unbelievable! The pictures show it, but honestly don't do him any justice! I was wondering what you guys on here think he will score at? I put a green tape on him before I took him to the taxidermist, and Im no expert, but wanted to see what you all thought? i can get more into the story if the post gets some interest! Godspeed all!

WOW! That is a monster buck! I would say he has to be over 200". He has a beautiful cape too, he's going to look awesome on your wall. Congrats!
11-08-2012, 03:43 PM
I'd say 190ish though I'm no expert. None the less, great buck! Congrats!
11-08-2012, 03:56 PM
Wow, what an exceptional buck. I love the mass he has! I'm the least experienced guy on this forum but I would guess close to 200.
11-08-2012, 04:10 PM
Damn, that's a fine animal right there. I'm sayin 192", and yes, im no expert either.
11-08-2012, 04:18 PM
Stud of a buck! Congratulations, it sounds like a well earned trophy.
My guess 182
He has incredible mass like you mentioned! INCREDIBLE however that is just one part of a bc buck. Just my opinion but make sure you post up numbers to prove me wrong and everybody right;)

Holy mass that is a great buck. Congrats man!
11-08-2012, 05:36 PM
First off, congrats on a great buck.
I think he would gross right at 185.
11-08-2012, 08:03 PM
I'm no expert scorer, but I'm no idiot either...I got a green score on him, but I'm waiting for my taxidermist to confirm before releasing the results...he scores big though ;)
I agree with BB mid 180's A nice buck!
11-08-2012, 08:34 PM
And who cares, that is a stud! Nice to see a big smile and no outstretched arms. Great, great buck.
11-08-2012, 08:42 PM
sw although your words were few, they just oozed of excitement and accomplishment. I'm sure you feel the same way as I suspect that those who wrote something here would say. It does not matter his score, he is absolutely gorgeous! What a toad of a buck and my what character.
If I had to guess a score, and I probably really stink at it, I would guess somewhere around 175 - 180.
11-08-2012, 08:51 PM
my buck shrunk a bit when i saw those pics:)
11-08-2012, 09:06 PM
I could be wrong, but I'm sticking with a gross of 200ish. I think the mass makes the tines look shorter than they really are. Not that it really matters. That is my dream buck! Mass and trash! I'm jelouse, congrats again.
11-08-2012, 09:42 PM
Awsome buck cant wait to read the story congrats
11-08-2012, 10:07 PM
The mass definitely hides a few inches! I'll get the story up soon.
11-08-2012, 10:10 PM
And I agree dryfly, I could care less about the official score, its just nice to have the Big Guy smile upon me!
11-09-2012, 08:23 AM
If I had to guess, it would be 197. But I am one that doesn't get caught up in score, and that is one hell of good looking deer. Congrats! Can't wait to hear the story.
11-09-2012, 09:28 AM
One thing for sure...regardless of what he scores, he was an old buck. Look at his face , eyes and snout. Absolutely one great buck!!! Congratulations to you. The only downside I can think of is, you will probably hunt for a long time before you get another like him. Definately the buck of a lifetime.
11-09-2012, 10:12 AM
Mid to upper 180's.
11-09-2012, 12:06 PM
Does who ever is the closest to the score get to go hunting with you next fall? I just can't stop looking at your buck, it's just beautiful.
11-09-2012, 12:17 PM
That is one hell of a buck. Even with the weak right front I think he will score high 180's.
11-09-2012, 01:10 PM
(for those of you who don't remember that was the name of an old Japanese godzilla movie)
Sternwarning- unbelievable. As far as B&C score goes, who cares? That system doesn't reward mule deer for their mass. I've
seen LOTS of heavy 170 bucks, including 3x3s, that I would shoot way before some that are in the book netting 185ish. Congrats. If I had to settle on an estimate on yours, I'd have to go with 185, which is incredible since his tine lengths are average for a big 'ole buck. Great main beam lengths and mass !!!!
11-09-2012, 04:43 PM
I come up with
main beams 46
spread credit 23
11-12-2012, 04:11 PM
Great buck, congrats!!!!!
11-12-2012, 07:05 PM
Wow nice buck.
11-13-2012, 06:47 PM
Got a story yet? I am looking forward to it.
11-14-2012, 06:56 AM
what a toad congrats man that one for the wall for sure.
11-14-2012, 08:53 AM
WOW!!!! Killer buck Sternwarning
11-14-2012, 10:09 AM
Holy crap!! That's an amazing buck! Congrats!!!
11-15-2012, 02:24 AM
I'll get the story up this weekend. Taxidermist is getting me the unofficial score by Friday. Sorry for the delay! Thx for the congrats and all the kind words! I'm still in awe of him!
11-16-2012, 06:09 PM
That's a pig ! Great mass ! You better mount that big boy !
11-16-2012, 07:22 PM
What a gorgeous buck with exceptional mass. Congratulations! As for score, it's hard to always judge by photos, but I'd guess he'll officially net in the upper 170's. NICE buck.

I promised the story, and here it is. My twin brother posted this write up on the WA state hunting forum, so ill just use the same here! He is such an awesome buck! I was waiting to hear from the taxidermist...I scored him gross over 200, and my taxidermist grossed him a bit over mine. He loses a good deal on the net...but it doesnt matter what he scores! He's a buck of a lifetime and ill be able to look at him everyday once I get him back! :) Regardless, got to wait for the drying period to get an official number on him! Thanks again for all the kind words!
Meet Samson. My brother shot this giant of a buck on the last weekend of the general season. Yep, another Washington state giant shot this year! The story isn't anything crazy. The real story is "time in the field".
We spend most all our time deer hunting in wilderness areas. We start scouting in July (elevation and snow dont allow us there any earlier!) and hunt our areas until October; weather permitting. Every year we usually glass up some decent bucks pre-season, and have been lucky enough to harvest a few. But this buck is in a class of it's own. So, here's the actual story for this buck.
My brother was by himself and decided to go check out one of our hunting areas. He drove up the mountain and set out on foot. The snow was about a foot deep when he decided to turn around. He went back down the mountain and tried a few spots that we have not spent much time scouting, besides looking at maps. The snow was now around 4 inches at this particular elevation. He cut some tracks on the side of the road and got out of his rig to give them a better look. There were about 5 sets of tracks. 4 does and the biggest buck track he'd ever seen. He followed them as they entered the big timber. A short slow creep later, there he was. Holding tight about 70 yards away. Boom, and down went the buck of a lifetime. A truly incredible God given gift.
So... The real story isn't drive roads until you see a monster buck. The real story is spend as much time as you can in the field. Everytime you step in the woods you learn something. You start to learn, where the bucks live, what they eat, where good genetics are, etc... Applying everything you learn is still no guarantee that you'll harvest a giant buck. But it does put you in the best position to do so, and that's all you can do. On top of that, luck is a much appreciated attribute. As I’m sure my brother will tell you.
This deer is awesome! It's evident from the pics that he's a giant, but honestly, the pics really don't do any justice for a buck like this. The mass is just out of this world. Well over 40". inside spread of 25" with a greatest outside spread of 29 5/8". I wish I was with him so I could have taken some pics of his buck in the field. Unfortunately these pics are all I got. I think they'll work.
Monster Washington State buck! I love it! Enjoy the pics!

Thanks for the story, I've been looking forward to it. I can't imagine how pleased your brother is.
