View Full Version : Minox HG binocular reviews anyone?

I had seen a couple sets of used Minox HG 8x43 BR binos on the web and wondered if anyone had tried them. At 22.9oz they would be easy to pack, and I like my cheaper Minox 8x42's as well as my 13x56's. Thought I'd see if anyone had tried them, there don't seem to be to many reviews online.

This might surprise you, but I used a set of those once. They were the Japanese made model, and it was some time ago, but I remember them being pretty nice, but showing lots of CA for a bin at that price point.

They have an APO model that should reduce CA.

One other thing ... the HG I saw was marked with yardages on the focus knob, so that when you had your subject in sharpest focus, you could look at the knob, and it would show the distance to the object. It was a neat idea and worked pretty well, but required a fairly shallow depth of field, which the HGs I saw had.

Thanks for the review. Did you have a chance to check low light performance?

Sorry, I was at the Wildlife Refuge during open hours.
