Here is the link to a newspaper that goes in depth a little more on the subject. I think that it is a great idea to allow hunters to harvest bison that wander out of their "tolerable zone". For years people in MT have been so upset with the government just slaughtering these animals. Finally the FWP is using one of the best resources it has available to help manage the bison in MT, the hunters. The comment made in the above article saying that the animals become "vermin" and that this would not be a fair chase hunt is completely absurd. Once a hunter gets the call from FWP saying that they can go shoot a bison in a certain area, they will still have to find the animal, get close enough for a shot, and make a clean and ethical shot. It's not like the bison are going to be rounded up into a corral, and then sit there waiting to be slaughtered. Just think how many families could benefit from shooting just one bison, with the amount of sustenance that it provides. Way to go FWP, you are finally using come common sense in your thinking about how to manage our states bison. I applaud you.
